Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan could make shock return to the Premier League, according to talkSPORT.
The Uruguayan is being linked with a surprise move to West Ham, as Sam Allardyce looks to bolster his attacking options.
The Hammers are short on strikers, with Andy Carroll still sitting out with a heel injury. The London side have re-signed Carlton Cole, just months after releasing the Englishman, due to their striker shortage.
But Allardyce is ready to add to his squad in January, by signing the former Red Devil. Forlan only scored 10 league goals in his four-year spell at Old Trafford, as he battled to get past van Nistelrooy and Solskjær in the United first team.
The 34-year-old is now back in South America, playing for Brazilian side Internacional. His 14 goals in the calendar year, as well as two in Uruguay’s World Cup Qualifying campaign, has led to speculation of him returning to Europe, with the Hammers seemingly most interested in his services.
West Ham have only scored nine goals this season, with their superior goal difference the only thing keeping them above the relegation zone after 11 matches. Allardyce’s men host Chelsea on Saturday, but things could brighten up in January should the club bring in the Uruguayan star.
Would you like to see Forlan at Upton Park? Or is their someone else on your transfer wishlist?
