Speaking after Arsenal’s victory over Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly last year, Unai Emery admitted that he didn’t know who Robbie Burton was.
Instead, it was Freddie Ljungberg who gave him the lowdown on the Arsenal academy midfielder, and Emery revealed he was left suitably impressed by his performance.
But it now appears Burton won’t get a chance to kick on. According to Football.London, the 20-year-old is to join Dinamo Zagreb on a permanent deal worth a potential £800k – the report was then later confirmed by the club’s official website.

After hearing about Burton’s exit, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the situation.
Some fans of the north London side simply insisted that it was a bad decision to let him go, with one supporter describing the sale as a “mistake”.
A couple of fans expressed their hope that a buy-back clause existed in the deal to sell him.
Having been a feature of Arsenal’s pre-season tour last summer, it is slightly surprising to see Burton make his exit from the Emirates.
But with the Gunners quite well-stocked in the midfield area at the moment with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Joe Willock and Dani Ceballos, amongst others, a route into a first-team for Burton is difficult to see.
